Sonia De Los Santos was born in Monterrey, Mexico, with a smile on her face (that’s what her mom always says) and she can easily find the things in the world that bring her joy. She started touring the world in 2007, singing in English and Spanish, playing guitar and jarana and lighting up the stage with Grammy Award winning group Dan Zanes And Friends. In 2015, she released her first solo family music album titled Mi Viaje: De Nuevo León to the New York Island (Parents’ Choice Foundation Gold Award Winner), a collection of songs that reflect her experiences growing up in Mexico, moving to another country, learning about other cultures and, in the process, feeling closer to her own heritage.
Her original songs, as well as her adaptations of American folk classics like “This Land Is Your Land” (“Esta es tu Tierra”) and “If I Had a Hammer” (“El Martillo”) have earned her recognition as a new soulful voice in the family music landscape. She has been hailed by Billboard as “one of the Latin Children’s music artists you should know” and “Best Latin Kids Music” and tours regularly across the United States, performing with her band in renowned venues and festivals such as: Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Symphony Space, The Getty Museum, Austin City Limits, Central Park SummerStage Kids and many more. Sonia is currently promoting the release of her second family album, ¡Alegría!, and celebrating the debut of her new live show Fiesta con Sonia De Los Santos at The New Victory Theater in New York City.
