Lollapalooza is for music fans of all ages! Kidzapalooza, presented by Lifeway Kefir, is a festival within a festival for parents who want to teach their kids what it’s like to experience one of the most special events in the world.
Located in its own enclosed area of Grant Park, Kidzapalooza offers parents and kids the opportunity to catch family-friendly music on its own stage plus various activities including creating their own music, arts & crafts and much more.
This area is all about rhythm and making noise! Rhythm Revolution provides multiple interactive drum circles per day at Kidzapalooza. It’s an opportunity for you to become the performer and get your groove on and we supply the drums, shakers, and more cowbell! You supply the rhythm makers of all ages.
Rhythm Revolution provides interactive music experiences that connects people to themselves and their communities at festivals, corporate team building events, universities and wherever people gather their tribes. We’ve been facilitating rhythm based events for over 20 years and at least 12 years at lollapalooza.
HIP HOP WORKSHOP
The Q Brothers will teach kids how to scratch, beat box, and rhyme. Lay down a track and walk away with a recording you’ll never forget.
Musicians, actors, writers, educators, and DJ’s, GQ and JQ created and share in the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed productions, Othello: The Remix and Funk it Up About Nothin’- both musical, hip hop, “ add-RAP-tations” of Shakespeare’s classics. Othello: The Remix was commissioned by Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London for the 2012 Globe to Globe Festival, played the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (MTM:UK Awards, Best Lyrics and Best New Musical), enjoyed a five month run at Chicago Shakespeare Theater (Jeff Aware, Best Ensemble), and has toured to Germany,South Korea, London and Sydney. Funk It Up About Nothin’ was commissioned by Chicago Shakespeare Theater (Jeff Aware, Best Ensemble) and ran at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Dress Circle Award, Best Musical), and on tour to London and Australia. Their work-in-progress A QBrothers’ Christmas Carol received its initial run at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in winter 2013a and will have its official premiere there in winter 2014. Their Off Broadway smash hit The Bomb-itty of Errors, which they co-created and starred in, has toured around the world and is published with Sam French. Film and television credits included the movie Drumline and the TV show Scratch and Burn (MTV), which they co-created and starred in, as wells work with Fox, CBS, and Showtime. They have numerous album credits as musicians and producers including the Q Brothers ‘ The Feel Good Album of the Year. The Q Brothers also conduct hip hop workshops for children of all ages, and have worked at Connecticut College, Lehigh University, Lollapalooza Music Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Latin School of Chicago, and in London and throughout Australia.

COLLABORACTION’S DOME OF DANCE
Collaboraction’s Dome of Dance is a dance-battle zone/tournament inside a geodesic dome in which dancers of all sizes and shapes boogie down head-to-head to the groove of DJ Shon Roka. The Dome of Dance manifests infinite fun while demonstrating non-violent conflict resolution and the importance of respect and comedy. Collaboraction has toured it’s Dome of Dance throughout Chicagoland and it was listed as #1 of the top “10 Magnificent Things You Will Only Find Inside Electric Forest!” by liveforlivemusic.com. Collaboraction Theatre Company creates communal artistic experiences in order to explore critical social issues with a diverse community of Chicagoans, such as This is Not a Cure For Cancer and Forgotten Future: the Education Project and it’s show Crime Scene: the Next Chapter which will be touring the parks this summer as part of the Chicago Park District’s Nights Out in the Parks for the month of August. Collaboraction has a 3-venue home in the Flat Iron Arts Building of Wicker Park where it creates it’s original theatrical experiences in order to use theatre to incite change.

KIDZA CHEF WORLD
Step into a world where you can learn cooking tips first hand from some of the most renown chefs. Cooking demos will take place during the day and a workshop which will focus on cultivating your own inner city garden will educate kids on the importance and ease of growing their very own gardens. Parents be warned, your kids might be pushing you out of the kitchen wanting to cook and take on more responsibility in the kitchen!

Chef Graham Elliot is a creative culinary wizard with an innate ability to successfully juxtapose four-star cuisine with humor, wit and out-of-the-box artistry. As a current co-host and judge on Fox Network’s hit cooking competitions, MasterChef and MasterChef Jr., Elliot offers his expert advice to show contestants. Combining his passion for food with a love of music, Elliot will return to Lollapalooza in 2015 as the culinary director, an honor he’s held for the past 7 years.
Along with regular TV appearances on Good Morning America, Access Hollywood, The Today Show and Nightline, Elliot has also see. His share of competition in the culinary ring having participated on both Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters. In addition to his regular TV work, Elliot also oversees his eponymous restaurant, Graham Elliot Bistro located in his hometown of Chicago.
In recent years Elliot, who is a self-proclaimed “Navy brat” who has traveled the world and all fifty US states, has accrued many prestigious accolades including multiple James Beard Foundation Nominations, as well as being named one of Food & Wine Magazine’s “Best New Chefs” in 2004. To top it off, Graham Elliot was also awarded two Michelin stars, making it one of only to fifteen in the United States to have that distinction.
At the age of 27 he was the youngest Four Star Chef to be named in any city, also earning himself a spot on Crain’s Chicago Business list of “40 Under Forty”, putting him in an elite club that includes luminaries such as President Barack Obama, who Elliot had the privilege of cooking for on his 49th birthday.
When he is not cooking, Graham enjoys traveling the world in search of new flavors, techniques and inspiration. He resides in Chicago with his wife Allie and his three boys, Mylo, Conrad and Jedediah.
Kidzapalooza 2015 brings the joy of making music to festival-goers of all ages. No experience needed! Meet with students of Berklee College of Music to guide you through the process of playing in a band and put on your own performance. Berklee’s own student-run record label Heavy Rotation Records brings artists from the college to play at Lollapalooza every year. Catch this year’s artist, Kyle Thornton & the Company playing at the Pepsi stage and helping out at Kidzapalooza. Stop by and make some music with us!

Free Spirit Media’s mission is to cultivate diverse youth voices to transform media and society. Free Spirit Media provides education, access, and opportunity in media production to over 500 youth and young adults from under-resourced communities every year through in-school classes, after-school programs, and advanced production, internship, and mentoring programs.

Come take a load off your feet with The Land of Nod and relax in the lounge and reading area along with our pals Albert Whitman publishing. Not only can kids relax and take a break from the noise and excitement, but they can hang in the teepees to catch a little shade. Also be sure to color a special bookmark designed by artist, Michelle Romo that you get to take home with you.
The Land of Nod, based in Chicago, IL, offers design for kids and people that used to be kids. With a commitment to quality and safety, we offer solutions for customers that aren’t willing to leave their design aesthetic at the door of their kid’s room.

At this booth, adults can register their children with the festival and receive a wristband. In the instance that a child gets lost, we have a way to unite them with their parent. Many times, the booth also serves as a meeting place for many kids and adults when and if they get separated from each other.
A small, private room where nursing and expectant mothers can go to change a baby’s diapers, breast feed or have privacy to use a breast pump. The Family Services space is shared with the Tag-A-Kid space in the Kidzapalooza area at the festival. It closes at 5PM on Friday and 5:30PM on Saturday and Sunday.
