Has there been a history of Sasquatch headliners playing Coachella the same year?  I know Bjork did it a few years back, but these days it seems like it eliminates them from the likelihood of playing.  If they are playing Coachella, it would behoove Goldenvoice to announce it ASAP.

Well Alex said they are playing. Does Goldenvoice ever announce anything early?

When CoS stated Pavement will play two festivals, one in the desert, and one that is very indie, I read enough posts of people speculating Coachella and Pitchfork.  Technically the Gorge is in the desert.  It is possible CoS was intentionally leading people to believe it would be Coachella, when it was Sasquatch all along.

Then again, Sasquatch is typically a very indie festival as well, so it could be Coachella and Sasquatch.

Or maybe Alex didn't know about Sasquatch and they are playing Coachella, P4K and Sasquatch?

I wouldn't think of Sasquatch being either "in the desert" or "very indie". I still think it makes a lot of sense for them to play Pofo.

Do you think Pofo can afford to book them?

On second thought Pofo did book the Flamming Lips last year and I am sure they did not come cheap.  I wonder if both bands cost similar amounts to book?

Central Washington is desert.

Historically, Sasquatch has not booked punk, reggae, metal, country, or electronic acts.  The few rap acts they booked have been indie rappers.  Their lineups have been almost entirely made up of rock and indie acts.  They switched it up last year with the dance tent, but prior to Pitchfork launching their festival, Sasquatch was probably the most indie festival out there.

Couldn't "very indie" refer to an ATP Festival?  I missed most of this thread, as I am just starting to try to listen to some Pavement.

NIN played both in 2006.

I don't think they'd do both ATP Minehead and ATP New York.
Regardless I don't think we should try to analyze CoS's quote too closely.

What album should I check out if I'm trying to get into Pavement?  You guys seem to know my tastes.

They are all highly rated, and i am certainly no expert, but Slanted and Enchanted(92) and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain(94) are probably the best place to start.

Sounds good... I'm gonna try to acquire a copy of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain since I believe I've heard good things about that one before.

I'm hoping Pavement turns more into a Springsteen's Nebraska, instead of a Yo La Tengo (and what I mean by this... is I bought into the Nebraska hype and fell in love with it, but when I tried buying into the Yo La Tengo hype, I couldn't get interested).
