Monee?   Holy mole.

You can probably still get a room at the Best Western across the street for 109 a night, and save on the commute money.

Do you like staying that far out, or is budget the biggest concern?

If so, I think I might know of a few hotels far closer for the same money.

Here's just one... and there are a bunch more in this area....

Monee is where we always stay. It's close to a Metra station, it's quiet, and I don't have to fight the traffic. The cost of the Metra is only $15 per person for the whole weekend. Parking at the Metra is $1.25 a day and parking at the motel is free.

The only downside is the long train ride. Also, I don't do aftershows because my daughter (she's 17) can't go to the shows and I'm usually too tired to go by myself anyway.

So some of it is about money, but it's also about getting a good night's sleep without Lolla parties going on all night.

Anyway, thanks for the info on Des Plaines. I'll check it out.

I guess it depends on who's playing. But it is something for me to think about.

Stayed at a really tiny place in Lyons actually, for 69 bucks a night. Forget what its called but it wasn't that great, though we weren't there that much. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really hard pressed for cash, and don't mind the commute. We took the Metra into the city in the morning and ended up having to take a taxi to get home since the Metra didn't run that late.

If I go in 10 I'm gonna try to get a closer hotel and fork over the extra cash.

2005: Club Quarters on Wacker - small rooms, too far
2006: W Hotel (City Centre) - even smaller rooms, nice bar in hotel
2007: Palmer House Hilton - nice, stayed in a suite, not worth the $$
2008: Travelodge - perfect location, no frills
2009: The caseydog condo - awesome

I'd recommend the Blackstone Marriott on Balbo Dr, but it's already sold out for the 2010 weekend...
