Okay first people, the whole headliner thing is already messed up. I know we debated it before and made a decision based on a consensus but as this man can tell you democracy doesn't always equal the right choice. Bjork was above White Stripes at acl in 07 and WS haven't done anything since then. I understand people saying that the WS get a bumb because if/when they play again it will be like a reunion, but I think that's an element that is almost impossible to figure out ahead of time. Also Outkast, well, I get the whole record sales thing but honestly, it could be argued that Kanye was a bigger commercial success than Rage/Radiohead so why didn't he headline over them??? It's the same situation with Cure, Bjork. They have sold fewer records but their commercial records are pretty impressive and they are LEGENDARY artists that have had long, substantial careers. If it was up to me, scheduling would have been; David Bowie, Bjork, The Cure, Outkast, White Stripes. That's just me and I don't expect people to agree with me. But this does take me back to my original point; Jay-Z could be argued to be billed 3rd or 6th or anything in between. Let someone nominate him and if he wins, then MAYBE we should debate if he is too big. Hell you guys had Depeche Mode below the Strokes and Arcade Fire on last year's line-up when Strokes/AF have yet to be a top 3 act while depeche mode has.
