Mark Ronson Website Mah Space Wikipedia Discography: Here Comes the Fuzz (2003) Version (2007) An album full of cover versions of songs by The Smiths, Maximo Park, Coldplay, Britney Spears, Radiohead and others. Musician/producer/DJ Ronson, best known for producing Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Nikka Costa, started Allido Records a few years back. The label is the home of Chicago’s Rhymefest and D.C. rapper Wale. He’s released a pair of albums that are heavy on big name collaborators such as Winehouse, Allen, Costa, Mos Def, Rivers Cuomo, Ghostface Killah, Kasabian, as well as 2008 Lollapalooza performers Jack White, Santogold, and The Dap Kings. Speaking of the Dap Kings, he used them on all but one of the tracks on Version, and six of the eleven tracks on Winehouse’s Back to Black. Ronson might have one of the more unique and interesting sets of the weekend. I expect something along the lines of what Jon Brion does, bringing a bunch of guests out to play with him. I really dig Version, his album of jazzed up cover songs, especially the cover of Radiohead’s Just (featuring Phantom Planet's Alex Greenwald). Give it a listen on his MySpace page to see if Ronson is for you. Other interesting bits about the guy: - He was engaged to Karen from the Office (Quincy Jones’ daughter, Rashida Jones). - When he was nine, he and Sean Lennon had a sleepover with Michael Jackson. - Tom Cruise paid him £40,000 to DJ at his wedding with Katie Holmes.
