Discography:
Here Comes the Fuzz (2003)

Version (2007) An album full of cover versions of songs by The Smiths, Maximo Park, Coldplay, Britney Spears, Radiohead and others.

Musician/producer/DJ  Ronson, best known for producing Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Nikka Costa, started Allido Records a few years back. The label is the home of Chicago’s Rhymefest and D.C. rapper Wale.  He’s released a pair of albums that are heavy on big name collaborators such as Winehouse, Allen, Costa,  Mos Def, Rivers Cuomo, Ghostface Killah, Kasabian, as well as 2008 Lollapalooza performers Jack White, Santogold, and The Dap Kings. Speaking of the Dap Kings, he used them on all but one of the tracks on Version, and six of the eleven tracks on Winehouse’s Back to Black.

Ronson might have one of the more unique and interesting sets of the weekend.  I expect something along the lines of what Jon Brion does, bringing a bunch of guests out to play with him. I really dig Version, his album of jazzed up cover songs, especially the cover of Radiohead’s Just (featuring Phantom Planet's Alex Greenwald). Give it a listen on his MySpace page to see if Ronson is for you.

Other interesting bits about the guy:

- He was engaged to Karen from the Office (Quincy Jones’ daughter, Rashida Jones).
- When he was nine, he and Sean Lennon had a sleepover with Michael Jackson.
- Tom Cruise paid him £40,000 to DJ at his wedding with Katie Holmes.

YouTube stuff:

Video for Just
On Jimmy Kimmel performing Stop Me
Video for Valerie
At BBC Radio One's Big Weekend performing Toxic

Well, that's pretty interesting about him and Michael Jackson. Wonder what went on there... but seriously, this guy could be one of my favorite acts of the weekend.

Holy Cow!  I didn't realize this was the guy who did that Stop Me cover.  Thanks Band-A-Day!

My sources tell me that we'll be getting a 16-piece band for this performance.

Possibly the Dap Kings?

What does he do live?  DJ?  Have a band play and mess with their instruments/loops/etc.?  Play an instrument himself?  Does he bring people to sing on his songs (Daniel Merriwether or some chump)?

I'd guess that his show will be stuff similar to the Big Weekend youtube video.

That's very cool about the 16-piece band.

I don't have any idea wat to expect from Mark Ronson.  I will check him out and decide if I want to stay for his show.

So who all did he bring out?  I heard him mention Rhymefest as I was walking over from the National to Kanye.
