Do you need to buy a ticket for tonight's event at the James Hotel, or is it free? If you've got to pay a cover/buy a ticket, how much is it? Thanks!

I thought the event that's listed on TimeOut [link removed] was tonight?

I do watch LOST, and you're right - that certainly is an event - especially after last weeks! Go Des!

It is free if you make e-mail reservations dupreeblue, but please edit that link out of your post.  Thanks.  I'll be the white man in a suit.  Feel free to say hello.

Whoops - sorry fishook. Link removed. Can you please PM me on how to RSVP? I've been looking around and I can't seem to find much info. I'd imagine if it's a foundation party, you should dress to impress as well? Sorry for being late to the party, but I just heard about this event this morning.

Edited to add: Why are people anti-link posting around here? Is there something in the TOS that I didn't see?

So, I have to leave my office in a couple of minutes for work, and I think I'm going to miss any presale as a result, but I don't care, because last night I had my picture taken with Perry Farrell.

After work yesterday, I walked over to the James Hotel on Ontario, east of State.  The Parkways Foundation, which sponsors Galapalooza had its planning meeting to announce this year's Galapalooza show.  Among the things I learned:

1.  This year, Galapalooza, which is on 7/31/08, will feature Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings.
2.  Jones & the Dap Kings will also "headline" Saturday evening, but the Parkways person who told me this probably doesn't understand about differentiating between headliners and stages.  Jones isn't the "main" headliner.   I'm guessing she probably gets the Patti Smith slot.
3.  Perry Farrell confirmed what we surmised already -- JACK JOHNSON WILL NOT BE AT LOLLAPALOOZA.
4.  Perry Farrell indicated that he didn't think Blue October is on this year's Lollapalooza lineup.
5.  Etty Farrell indicated that Satellite Party is down to a three piece - Perry, her, and the guy who played bass has moved over to guitar.
6.  The Mansion, which is a nightclub near Clark & Erie, and which used to be the site of the nightclub, Pasha, may be hosting some sort of semi-private afterparties this year.
7.  One of the three producers of Lollapalooza looks a little bit like Christian Bale.  The producer was one of the few people wearing jeans there, but I thought I saw a wedding band, so Moxyfop will have to look elsewhere for a new beau.
8.  Without a nametag, I couldn't meet other members of the board who had indicated that they were planning to go to this event.  Although because I tried to talk to everyone in the room, I may have met them accidently.
9.  Galapalooza advertised that its tickets were $350 last year; this year they are still $350.  But they are sold in lounges of 10.
10.  The $350 Galapalooza ticket puts you in the back for Galapalooza.   If you want the "rock star" seating it's $25,000 for 10 people.

I had actually met Perry before, at Lollapalooza 2005 when I shook his hand at a booth near the planet stage, but yesterday I actually got to talk to him for a couple of minutes.  Etty was cool, too.  Even the Christian Bale look-alike who's one of the three producers of Lollapalooza was cool, but I hope I didn't overstay my welcome with him.

Yesterday may have been the coolest day I have ever had in conjunction with music.  Better than the day I gave Neil Young my business card.*

*He never actually called me, though.
