I think you all probabbly know about this, but who knows....  Go here:

http://hype.non-standard.net/

This is like a organisational search engine that scans hundreds of music blogs hourly and tells you what songs have been posted.

If you see a song you like you can listen to it, buy it or if you click the "Read Post" button it will take you to the blog itself that posted the song where you can download the MP3.

Last year every band in the lineup was available here so there was no reason to not hear the music of someone in the lineup.

This has got to be one of the coolest things ever. Enjoy!

I've had that bookmarked for quite a while now.  I check it every so often.  Cool site.

Free full length songs by all but 23 artists in the lineup are available for download using the link above.

I just moved it back to to the top for the people asking for full versions of the sample songs on the home page and anyone who may not already use it. There is no reason not to have heard every band in the lineup before the shows in August.

Thanks manders .

Danke schoen.

BloodSugarSexMagik -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 2:24:34 AM)

I challenge you, however, to find Matt Roan. He is the last person on the Lolla lineup and I can't find him ANYWHERE, including your cool site.

Matt Roan is a local musician who was a member of the band boylion (formed in 2000, Elmhurst, IL).  There are no songs available from him online that I am aware of.

brighterays -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 10:37:19 AM)

Matt Roan is a DJ, I thought?  I was reading about him in B&N yesterday.  One of the "1000 Artists to Watch Out For in 2007" or something like that.

And HypeMachine is great except it only looks at certain blogs that it has chosen or approved or something like that.

I hope he is the DJ Matt Roan and not the guy I was reading about.  That sounds a lot better.

brighterays -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 10:41:34 AM)

Pretty sure he is.  Because the guy in the article I was reading about was the DJ, and they mentioned something like "not sure why his last name is all capitals" (ie Matt ROAN) and on the lolla lineup page I'm pretty sure it's written like that too.

brighterays -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 10:42:52 AM)

Sorry, meant on the lineup poster pdf...and yes it is spelt like that.

ruthlessvengeance -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 10:52:13 AM)

If you find a link to one of his songs I would like to hear what he sounds like.

brighterays -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 10:55:38 AM)

BloodSugarSexMagik -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 10:58:08 AM)

Okayyy. Sounds like something I will skip.

brighterays -> RE: The Hype Machine (4/16/2007 11:02:22 AM)

Yeah I'm not too impressed.
