Lolla Friday 2012

Hey Lolla fans! Were you one of the early birds waiting at the gates before they even opened yesterday at 11AM? The excitement was tangible and people were buzzing to scan their bands and rush to their stage for the day.
Whether dancing along to the beats at Perry’s stage all afternoon (and night) or bouncing between the other main stages dotting the park, the grounds quickly filled up as a steady stream of fans arrived for the day and made their way to the music. First Aid Kit, Young Bloods, The Shins, The Head and the Heart, Metric, SBTRKT, M83, Passion Pit were just some of the epic shows that rocked Grant Park yesterday. A trio of B’s rounded out the night as Black Sabbath, The Black Keys and Bassnectar closed the down the Festival under the nearly full moon.
And while the music doesn’t get any better than the star-studded roster of artists performing at Lollapalooza this year, we’ve also filled Grant Park with plenty of activities and fun spontaneous ways to boost your experience and win cool stuff! Green Street was humming with interested fans looking to get involved and make a difference – whether by having their cheek swabbed or leaning more about getting to the polls in November. The area also played host to a popup party of the cupcake variety. That’s right, we’ve partnered with the famed Magnolia Bakery to give you a few sugary snacks throughout the Festival weekend. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more details on your next chance to snag this sweet surprise.
And speaking of Facebook, are you following along across our multiple channels? Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram – we’re bringing you inside looks at the action direct from Lolla staffers and sometimes even the artists themselves. Use #lolla on Instagram for a shot at having your snaps flash across our jumbotrons throughout the park at various times throughout the day. Also, for those of you with burning questions for some of our featured artists, you can tweet your curiosity with #AskLolla for a chance to have the bands respond directly to your Q’s! And don’t worry – if you can’t make it here to party with us this weekend, you can follow along with our dual channel YouTube webcast ALL weekend long. It’s like being at the Festival without the sun and sweat! Get ready for Day 2…
