HackLolla 2012: The Winners!

This year’s edition of our HackLolla competition — you know, the one where we give you the keys to the Lolla API castle and let your creative app-building skills run wild — has officially come to a close. We couldn’t be more excited to announce the Grand Prize winner and Official Fan App for Lollapalooza 2012 because yet again, not only were we surprised by the ingenuity of the winning app, but excited by how its useful simplicity can add so much to your Lolla 2012 experience.

LollapaYOUza is the brainchild of Benjamin G and Christina M and gives you a personalized view of the Lolla schedule based on your social networks, taste and music preferences. After you answer a short series of ten taste-driven questions, the app accesses the official line-up data and generates your tailored schedule, and even sends you notifications regarding shows you might like. Needless to say, LollapaYOUza instantly won over our panel of judges with its clever concept and streamlined interface. Go ahead — check it out and find your Lolla monster!

Showfile was this year’s People’s Choice winner. While LollapaYOUza is meant to be a predictive guide to your ideal Lolla experience, Showfile gives you a handle on organizing your post-Festival experience, cataloging your show reviews and connecting you to like-minded fellow fans after the weekend. An especially cool Showfile feature is the fact that it lets you access all of the Lollapalooza Performances since the Festival moved to Grant Park in 2005. Not only can users reminisce by viewing live concert footage from those shows, but by adding select performances to their Showfile they can connect with others who may have attended the same sets!
